Tamim Iqbal is unlikely to be available for the entire Asian Cup as the lefty was granted paternity leave by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to be with his wife Ayesha Siddiqa. According to sources, he asked the board to grant leave from February 24, the day of the Asian Cup will start with a match between India and Bangladesh in the e-Sher-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, and that the couple is expecting their first child later this month.
Tamim likely absence will result in a change in the team for the regional tournament, which will take place in T20 format first. BCB has yet to declare the team to the Asian Cup, but another left-hander, Imrul Kayes, are more likely to make the cut for the final squad.
